Biography

Joe Bogdan is a 30 year veteran of the entertainment industry. He began his career as an attorney in private practice focusing on the leveraged exploitation of entertainment content through new media platforms. He spent the majority of his law firm years at in Los Angeles, where he concluded his private practice career in 2000.

After private practice, Joe spent many years as an entrepreneur, in executive roles with three venture-backed convergence startups: OnAir Streaming Networks, an early music streaming technology company; Cognitive Concepts, a video-game technology inventor; and , a personalized and print and make-on-demand D2C company.

Aside from entrepreneurship, Joe was Sr. V.P. of Business and Legal Affairs for , where he held primary responsibility for running the day-to-day operation of the Business Affairs of the company and ultimately became Acting General Counsel.

Today, while teaching at Columbia College, Joe continues to consult for a variety of clients, from individual entertainment personalities to publicly traded companies, advising primarily on both traditional entertainment-industry matters and strategies designed to build, manage and generate incremental revenue from content and other intellectual property portfolios.  At Columbia College, Joe teaches Business of Live Entertainment, Club Management: Practicum, Entrepreneurship, Law for Creative Industries, and Managing and Licensing Intellectual Property (graduate and undergraduate).

Mr. Bogdan has a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Illinois, and both an M.A. in Communications Management and a J.D. from the University of Southern California. He previously taught on an adjunct basis at University of Connecticut, Illinois Institute of Technology and Chicago-Kent College of Law, and he currently regularly also teaches for The School of American Law (in association with Bahçeşehir University Beşiktaş, Bar Association of Advocacy of Kyrgyz Republic, Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Istanbul Arbitration Center, Ivan Franko National University, Odesa National Law Academy, University of Gdansk, and University of Wrocław).
